    pregnancy
    helpful one asked:

I am 5 months and have gained three pounds. I have friends who have gained 10 pounds throughout their pregnancy and even a very heavy-set friend who said she gained only 1 pound. Is that even possible? I know every pregnancy is different but would still appreciate answers.

It all depends on how much you weighed before you got pregnant. If you were underweight then you need to gain more. If you are overweight then you shoudn’t gain too much. Normal weight-somewhere around 25 lbs. But I went a little crazy with the whole eating for two thing and I gained too much weight. Just watch what you eat and don’t eat junk food. Its not healthy for you or your baby.

well when I was pregnant I gained about 30 pounds I was told anywhere from 20 to 30 pounds is normal

      normally 25-35lbs

rare cases of lower weight gains b/c of medical reasons with the mother..

Normal weight gain is 25lbs for the whole pregnancy. but some women gain more and some women gain less it all depends on the way your body is. good luck.

If you start at a healthy weight then 25-35 pounds. But this can vary WIDELY! With my first I gained 60, with my second I gained 35. With this one I am now only 4 pounds over what I started at 17 weeks along.

About 30 pounds is normal if you didn’t start out overweight. Remember, it’s 7 or so pounds of baby, placenta, increased uterus size, and all of the additional fluids and blood your body has created during pregnancy.

      average 27 lbs

Every pregnancy is different as you stated. I am pregnant with twins and gained only 5 pounds the first 4 months! I have gained more now though at almost 5 months. It depends on your particular pregnancy. Generally, women who are overweight don’t need to gain as much weight during pregnancy, but you should talk to your doctor about what they recommend for you specific case. In my case for example, I should be gaining about 1 lb per week for the first 24 weeks and 2 lbs per week for the remaineder of my pregnancy, but that is just because I am having twins. Pregnancy is definately not a time to be trying not to gain weight, but obviously you should gain according to your doctor’s guidelines. Also, women who have severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy may gain less. It is entirely possible that your friend has gained only 1 pound, but if I were you I would spend less time worryingabout that and more time thinkingabout growing your own baby!

it depends on your weight before pregnancy and varies between each pregnancy. your doctor would let you know if there was any reason to be concerned.

Normal weight gain is 25-35lbs but like everyone has said every woman and every pregnancy is different. I gained 70lbs, which was absolutely ridiculous. I was not overeating or anything. I later found out in my 7th month that I had gestational diabetes, which contributed to my massive weight gain.

I have lost 31 lbs so far and trying to lose the rest.
